Ross Dunkerton Shows Support for the Summit Rally Team

In rallying, cream will always rise to the top, but in Australia, once floating aloft, there isn't a lot of scope to make rallying a full time profession. Whilst Europe seems an obvious destination, there is a lot of competition to get noticed by factory teams. One destination that has been a bit overlooked is the USA where although rallying is not that prominent with the general population it is very popular with manufacturers. A number of young British drivers have benefited enormously from competing in the USA with paid factory drives within a relatively short space of time. I was very pleased to see that Summit Innovations has financed Will and Ross and their respective co drivers to try their hand in a couple of American events including Pikes Peak.
Not only will the talents of these youngsters become quickly obvious to the American fans, the overseas experience will be priceless for them.
It's fitting that the name Summit, which means the top, is now associated with backing these two competitors. I'm sure a lot of Australian's will be wishing them well and supporting their rise to the "summit". I wish them well in their endeavours and know they will represent Australian rallying with pride and dogged determination.
Ross Dunkerton
5 times Australian Rally Champion

Summit Rally Team gets the Feaver

One of Australia's most experienced co-drivers will join Will Orders and the Summit Rally Team for their assault on Pikes Peak and the Rally America series in 2012.
Western Australian, Toni Feaver, will call the pacenotes for Orders in his Nissan Silvia as they embark on one of the most ambitious rally programs an Australian team has ever put together.
With backing from Australian company Summit Innovations, the Summit Rally Team will run a two-car team in three rounds of the Rally America series, with Orders and Feaver also contesting the legendary Pikes Pike Hill Climb in Colorado.
The team's second car will be driven by brothers, Ross and Scott Allan.
Toni Feaver is one of the country's most sought-after co-drivers, having taken many victories in both gravel and tarmac rallies over a career that started in 1995.
She won the Australian Junior Rally Challenge in 1998, and has followed that success with state championship event victories and outright wins in tarmac rallies s, including Classic Targa Adelaide.
She has also contested international events such as the Rally of Great Britain, Rally Ireland, and rallies in Asia. She has contested Australia's round of the World Rally Championship on 10 occasions, and New Zealand's round on a further two.
Her teaming with Orders in 2012 sees them rekindle an in-car partnership that began seven years ago.
"I started competing with Will in 2005 in the Subaru Impreza RS Challenge, and then in 2006 we competed in the BP Ultimate Challenge," Feaver said.
"We finished second in both, and then in 2007 we stepped up to the outright category in an Impreza WRX STI, but funding cut that year short.
"Sitting alongside Will in 2012 and experiencing rallying in America, and the iconic Pikes Peak, will be a real career highlight," she added.
Orders is excited to have Feaver back in the car in what will be an exhilarating program for Summit Rally Team.
"Toni is one of the best in the business, and to have her along for the ride in the USA this year will be fantastic," he said.
"We've had some great results in the past, and with our brand new Nissan Silvias we're hoping for similar success in the US events over the coming months."
Summit Rally Team's container, loaded with the two team cars and all their equipment, left of for the United States last week.
The team's first event will be the Oregon Trail Rally in Portland, Oregon, from May 4-6.

Summit Rally Team Hits the Big time.
Summit Rally Team announced its plans for a full assault on the 2012 two wheel drive Australian rally Championship in front of a crowd of media at yesterday's Rally Calder launch. Will Orders was at the launch providing VIP rides with one of the team's fire breathing 400bhp turbocharged, rear wheel drive Nissan Silvia's.
The Team will be full of youthful exuberance but also considerable experience as Will Orders and Rian Calder will pilot the first of the Summit Rally Team cars and brothers Ross and Scott Allan will drive the second car. Summit Rally Team has committed to the full ARC Calender for 2012 with both cars and promises to take it up to whatever challengers come their way.
Long-time supporter, Hilary Evans of Summit Innovations is throwing everything at the team in an effort to clinch some manufacturer support for the coming years and is confident that the team will not disappoint. The second of the two Nissan Silvia's is currently being prepared at the Summit Rally Team Headquarters in Keysborough, a suburb of Melbourne by their full time mechanic, Hayden Taylor. Hayden brings with him many years of experience and technical knowledge ensuring the cars are world class.
In the meantime however, Will Orders and Ross Allan are to compete head to head at the Rallyschool.com.au Australian Junior Challenge Final to be held at the Coffs Coast Forest Rally, Sept 8-10.

Will Orders eyeing victory at RAJC Final.
Will Orders has been busy preparing for the upcoming final of the Rallyschool.com.au Australian Junior Challenge which is to be held in Coffs Harbour on 9-10 September 2011. The Coffs Coast Forest Rally will run in conjunction with Australia's round of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Will qualified for the final at the Quit Forest Rally in WA, winning the RAJC 2wd section by a substantial margin. Based on his pace, he is confident that a win at the final is not out of the question. “I've been doing plenty of work to the car, and have changed a few parts that I believed to be potential weaknesses. The car now sounds fantastic and goes even better thanks to Peter at Freak Fabrications and the guys at AVO” says Will.
Although the RAJC 2wd Final is very important to Will, he is also working overtime towards finalising some big plans for the 2012 Australian Rally Championship. Will: "We will release all the details of our plans on August 30, but in the meantime I can say that our plans along with the changes implemented by Scott Pedder, should help to make next year's Championship one of the best for quite some time".
